HOW to D8008 - All you need to know

DB8008 How to: How can I access the internal storage of my Silencer and upload tracks?

An FTP client should be used in order the internal storage of DB8008 to be entered. If you do not have one installed on your computer, we recommend the usage of FileZilla. For further information on how to configure a connection between the silencer and the FTP client refer to the next question.

DB8008 has a built-in backup audio player. It plays tracks from SD Card storage uploaded over the FTP, in case of main audio signal loss.

An important requirement for the MP3 Player configuration is that all MP3 files should be stored in a folder named MP3. The folder should be located in the root of the SD Card. The playlist file have to be named playlist.m3u and the file names have to be no longer than 8 symbols, followed by 3 symbols extension. For example: use track01.mp3 instead of 01_backup_track.mp3

DB8008 How to: What will happen with the Audio in case of power failure?

In case of power failure, the MAIN Audio inputs will switch directly to the Audio outputs. Once the power is restored, the DB8008 will resume its proper operation.

DB8008 How to: I have forgotten my password for the WEB Interface. What should I do?

The WEB Interface password could be viewed/changed via the front panel navigational menu. The menu path is Main menu > WEB Server.

DB8008 How to: I want to configure DB8008 to work with our Icecast Source Client. How can I do that?

Prior to implementing the below written adjustments, the following conditions should be fulfilled:

  • DB8008 should have a static IP Address. If the device is placed behind a router, you will have to make sure that the Icecast Player server port is properly NAT forwarded;
  • On the other side, of the connection, there should be an encoder (for example DB9000-TX/DB90-TX) set as Icecast Source Client or other Icecast Source Client.

The Icecast in DB8008 acts like a server. The audio stream is received from Icecast source client, for example DB9000-TX or DB90-TX. In this configuration, the Icecast source client initiates the connection.

If DB8008 will use an on-line radio, IP Audio should be used. The IP Audio Client in DB8008 acts like an Icecast player. The audio stream is received from the Icecast server. In this configuration DB8008 initiates the connection.

Once one of the above cited conditions is implemented, the following settings should be made:

  • Configure the Icecast source client to connect to DB8008's Icecast port, 5555 by default;
  • Configure the Icecast source client to use the user name and password set in DB8008 Icecast settings, source and pass by default.

DB8008 How to: How to connect DB8008 to our Icecast/Shoutcast compatible online radio?

One of the following conditions should be fulfilled, prior to applying any adjustments:

  • An encoder (for example DB9000-TX/DB90-TX) with static IP Address and properly configured Stream Server could be used.
  • An online radio could be used.

Once one of the above cited conditions is implemented, the following settings should be applied, via the WEB Interface:

  • Go to Configuration > IP Stream;
  • In IP Audio Client section - URL of the Server should be specified. The URL is a mandatory requisite needed in order for a connection with the server to be established. The URL could be compounded of a domain name or IP Address, Server Port, and path (optional), ex. radio.myserver.com:5000/live or 192.168.120:5000;
  • Choose the preferred decoder, prebuffer and specify buffer timeout. If needed set new gain adjustment settings.
  • From the Audio Section set the priority of the IP Audio Client.

DB8008 How to: How can I stream RTP audio to DB8008?

Prior to implementing the below written adjustments, the following conditions should be fulfilled:

  • The DB8008 should have a static IP Address. If the device is placed behind a router, you will have to make sure that the player port is properly NAT forwarded;
  • On the other side, of the connection, there should be an audio encoder (for example DB9000-TX/DB90-TX) set as RTP Sender.

Once the above cited conditions are implemented, the following settings should be applied, via the WEB Interface:

  • Go to Settings > IP Stream;
  • RTP Audio Player section - Specify the audio player port and decoder to be used;
  • From Audio, Audio Backup section set the priority of the RTP Audio Player.
  • Configure the RTP sender to stream the audio to DB8008’s RTP port. The port number is 5004 by default.

DB8008 How to: How long is the IN-OUT latency of the DB8008?

The longest possible audio delay is from Analog In to Analog Out and is about 34ms.

DB8008 How to: Can the Phones Output level be regulated?

The Phones Output level cannot be regulated. The output is directly connected to the Analog Out and its level depends on the one set at the output.

DB8008 How to: How should I configure the connection between my DEVA Device and an FTP Client?

In order for a connection to be established the following setting should be applied:

1. FTP Server Settings

The built-in FTP Server has four important parameters that should be configured: Command Port, Data Port, User name and Password. These parameters are to be used in the FTP client’s connection configuration. Further information on how to change the FTP Server’s settings and their respective default values can be found in the device’s User manual.

We recommend the usage of FileZilla. This is a widespread open source software distributed free of charge, hence available for downloading from the Internet.

NOTE: The FTP Server can manage only one connection at a time. TheFTP Server works in Passive mode. Hence, the FTP Client should also be set in passive mode.

2. IP Router and Port Translation Settings

If the connection to the device is made through a Network address translation (NAT) router or firewall, the port forwarding feature of the router should be configured. The port forwarding is usually set in the firewall section of the router's menu. As each router has different port forwarding procedure, we recommend you to refer to its complete manual. To allow proper data flow through the router, the FTP Command and FTP Data ports should be open.

NOTE: The FTP port numbers to be used in the port forwarding feature configuration can be found in the device.

3. Example of FTP Client (FileZilla) Settings

In some cases, FileZilla's "Quick connect" feature is not able to connect with the DEVA unit. That is why we recommend the device to be assigned in the program manually.

Enter the FTP Client and go to: File > Site manager > New Site. A dialog box requiring obligatory information about the device will appear. Fill in the needed information and press "OK".
